about

We’re the Hudson Improvisation Ensemble! We are eleven students between grades nine and twelve, playing instruments from the cello to the didgeridoo. We formed in October of 2017 as a group seeking to improve our improvising and soloistic skills, but we have grown to be far more than that. We’re constantly trying new things and playing games such as “Musical Telephone” with the invaluable help of our band director, who even made some cameos on the album! This year has been an amazing exercise in learning to listen, trust, interpret, and take charge. The album title is, and has always been, our mission statement: Unforeseen/Unplanned.

The album was recorded in the Hudson High School band room on May 8th, 2018. Our group got together for the afternoon and recorded 30 full length tracks using various techniques and styles of playing. This album, which will hopefully be the first of many more projects released annually, is made up of our 6 favorite recordings from that session. On this album you will find a collection of songs ranging from light melodic tunes, to dark and demonic tributes. We very much hope you enjoy the Hudson Improvisation Ensemble’s first album, Unforeseen/Unplanned.
